ccr - Centre for Communications Research

ccr Logo The CCR was established in 1987 at the University of Bristol, as an interdisciplinary University Research Centre. It is recognised as a Research Centre of international standing and has won premium awards for its publications on mobile radio, DSP, optical communications and satellite navigation systems. The CCR through participation in 3CR projects is maintaining its long history of successful collaboration with industry besides enhancing its reputation for world-class research.

Camea

Camea LogoCamea is located in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 1995 and its core business is image and signal processing. It brings to 3CR international expertise in computer graphics acceleration using digital signal processing/field programmable gate array technology, specifically graphics accelerator boards.

ITV

ITV LogoFor more than 50 years ITV has remained the UK’s largest commercial broadcaster.  Today it is a multi-channel, multi-platform, content-driven business focused on the needs of viewers and advertisers.  Through its subsidiary Granada Bristol, it provided 3CR with thousands of hours of media and associated metadata, and practical skills and knowledge of content creators.  Granada Bristol had an archive of around 100,000 hours of media in disparate formats and was keen to solve some of the problems currently experienced when managing, storing and manipulating large quantities of digital media. Content producers will experience significant benefits from a set of intelligent tools that allow them to work more efficiently and creatively.

Maniac Films

Maniac Films brings to 3CR its experience and background in sporting event filming and logistics, video productions and new media including web and mobile delivery platforms.

Matrix Data

Matrix Data LogoMatrix Data, specialists in data management, provided 3CR with an underlying database with its semantic approach to metadata cataloguing and classification. Matrix Data wants to see the creation of a ground breaking multimedia database which incorporates semantic, video and audio content analysis tools. Content producers will have a set of tools for the automatic recognition of images and audio, and for shot selection and editing television programmes.

Murgitroyd & Company

Murgitroyd Logo Murgitroyd & Company are among the largest firms of European Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, and have extensive experience of working with international organisations from all industrial sectors.  Murgitroyd have worked with 3CR to develop an IP management infrastructure process and provide advice to 3CR on complex IP issues.
