September 2009 - Latest funding from the Technology Strategy Board

The Technology Strategy Board has announced two new calls:

These are small grants (£25k) for companies to undertake short feasibility studies

The closing date for registering intention to submit an application is 24th September

The closing date for applications is 1st October

Next Generation Broadband Access-The Digitally Connected Region-Building the Case for Regional Investment 21 July 2009

Over 60 people attended the Next Generation Broandband Access event and took part in workshop groups giving the audience to discuss the future for broadband services in five different themed areas: smart home environment, intelligent transport, future business, creative industries, and the digitally connected region.

There were two keynote presentations : Ian Vance from Amazing Communications: How to deliver 10Gbit/s...or perhaps not ? and The User Perspective : by Stephen Hilton. Philip Hargrave, the CEO of the DCKTN chaired the event.

Visualise features in the TSB's Creative Industries Strategy Report

On 9th July 2009 the Technology Strategy Board launched its report - Creative Industries Technology Strategy 2009- 2012. Visualise features on page 30 of the report.

June 2009 - TSB Innovation Strategy for the Creative Industries

On 16 June 2009 the Technology Strategy Board launched its Innovation Strategy for the Creative Industries which sets out recommendations for future focus and investment to support creative industries and digital media businesses.

The strategy focuses on :

  • increased standardisation, interoperability and exploitation of metadata in digital media business to allow content owners to profit from their work by enabling new business models and
  • charging methods to emerge and on the support for the creation and integration of cross- platform products and servcies to allow the creative indsutrries to benefit from new business opportunities within the digital arena.
